President of Doctors Without Borders (MSF) Joanne Liu condemned on Thursday the ongoing attacks on the Syrian city of Aleppo by Syrian and Russian warplanes over recent days.

Those attacks show that the war in Syria has become a race to the bottom, she added.

“In Syria, the attacks never stop. Doctors in Aleppo pull their weakest patients off ventilators, so someone else gets a chance. But ventilators are made for the weakest cases. This is desperate, desperate medicine,” she asserted.

The UN Security Council has failed to implement a resolution aimed at protecting medical facilities and staff in Syria and other conflict zones, she said.
