Egypt's Grand Mufti Shawky Allam denounced a terrorist attack on a security checkpoint in North Sinai on Friday that left 12 servicemen dead and six others injured.

In a statement, the mufti deplored this cowardly attack carried out by a group of terrorists who are seeking to destabilize the country.

He extended his sincere condolences to the families of the martyrs, wishing the injured a speedy recovery.
