Attack on a Kabul hotel

Pakistan strongly condemned a suicide bomb attack in Kabul on Friday, which killed at least 15 people and wounded 240 others.

"We share the grief of the brotherly people of the Afghanistan over this cowardly act against innocent civilians. We reiterate condemnation of terrorism in all its forms and manifestations," a Pakistan Foreign Ministry spokesman said.

The blast took place just days after the Taliban confirmed the death of their leader, Mullah Omar. No group has claimed responsibility for the attack near an Afghan army base.

"We reaffirm our resolve to fight terrorism in close coordination with the government of Afghanistan and we stand with our Afghan brothers in our common struggle against terrorism," the spokesman said.

The blast occurred at a time when Pakistan has started facilitating peace talks between the Taliban and the Afghan government.

Pakistani officials have warned that detractors could try to derail the peace process.
