The Shura Council strongly condemned the terrorist blast which caused the explosion of a Bapco oil pipeline near the region of Buri yesterday evening.
It denounced the terrorist attack which sparked panic among people in the targeted area, reiterating condemnation of the act of sabotage which contravenes Islamic precepts, religious values and basic human rights.
In a statement today, it commended the Ministry of Interior, particularly the Civil Defence, the General Directorate of the Traffic and the police for evacuating people for their safety.
The statement also commended Bahrain Petroleum Company (Bapco) which dealt swiftly with the aftermath of the terrorist attack and contained the fire before engulfing other oil pipelines.
The Shura Council extended thanks to citizens who cooperated with the Civil Defence servicemen and proved their national responsibility in the aftermath of the terrorist blast.
“The terrorist blast aimed at harming vital interests and the security and stability of Bahrain, long known as an oasis of peace and coexistence between people”, the statement said.
It reiterated people’s unwavering support to the wise leadership, backing all measures to deter terrorist groups and foil their heinous attempts to target Bahrain.
It affirmed the Government’s resolve to continue efforts to root out the scourge of terrorism, dry up its source of financing and pursue sustainable development and progress.
The Shura Council stressed confidence in the ability of the security agencies to identify the terrorists, bring them to justice and maintain Bahrain’s security and stability, commending the security and police forces which are deployed countrywide to protect lives.
