A Spanish archaeological team has discovered the first breast cancer-infected mummy.
The new medical discovery was made as the Spanish team was conducting excavation work at the Tombs of the Nobles in Aswan, said archaeologist Nasr Salama.
Examinations conducted on the mummy of a lady of the sixth dynasty showed that she had suffered from breast cancer more than 2,200 years B.C., Salama said.
Her skeleton bore stains that indicated she had suffered from breast cancer and died at the age between 25 to 30, Salama explained.
