Cairo - Safaa Abdel Kader
Mamdouh Raslan, chairman of the Holding Company for Drinking Water and Sanitation, said that some articles of the law on regulation of the drinking water sector prepared by the ministry of housing and submitted to parliament are being reviewed.
In a press statement, Raslan stressed that the law was reviewed by the parliament's housing committee and requested the amendment of some of its articles to reflect the role of all four authorities in charge of water production in Egypt, starting with the national authority for drinking water and sanitation, the executive body responsible for the establishment and implementation of the stations, the water holding company responsible for operation and maintenance and even the regulatory body responsible for quality control.
He explained that the parliament also asked to review and amend the penalties stipulated in the law, so that the main objective is to educate citizens about drinking water problems and the best ways to deal with them, and then the existence of appropriate penalties for those who will violate the law.
