Villarreal announced on Thursday the sale of US international striker Jozy Altidore to Dutch side AZ Alkmaar. The Liga club gave no more details about the deal, although AZ revealed that the player, 21, has signed a four-year contract. Altidore joined Villarreal in 2008 but stiff competition for places meant he hardly featured for the Spanish club, and instead spent most of his time out on loan with Xerez, Hull City and Bursaspor.
