Esperance of Tunisia clinched first place in a CAF Champions League group on Sunday by winning 1-0 at home to Sunshine Stars from Nigeria. The victory extended to 19 matches the unbeaten run of the Tunisian Blood and Gold, who are seeking a second successive African title after overcoming Wydad Casablanca of Morocco in the final last year. An own goal by Jude Ebitogwa seven minutes into the second half settled the Group A top-of-the-table showdown between clubs who had already secured semi-finals places. Esperance have nine points with an away fixture against pointless bottom side ASO Chlef of Algeria to come in mid-September while Sunshine finished with six points.
