Borussia Monchengladbach\'s second-choice goalkeeper Christofer Heimeroth has signed a contract extension until 2014. The 30-year-old arrived at the club in 2006, but he has lost his starting place to the highly-rated Marc-Andre ter Stegen recently. However, Gladbach feel his experience makes him an ideal understudy for Ter Stegen and have given him a new two-year deal. \"Christofer is an experienced player and he is the ideal support to our young goalkeepers Marc-Andre ter Stegen and Janis Blaswich,\" director of sport Max Eberl said on the club\'s official website. \"He plays an important role in the squad and that is why we are delighted that we will have him for the next two years.\" Ter Stegen challenge Heimeroth is determined to keep putting the pressure on Ter Stegen for the number one spot. \"I don\'t see myself just as their partner in training, but I am also a sportsman and I am obviously ambitious too,\" he said. \"That means I try every day to put pressure on and that is what I feel my task is. \"I have been in the business long enough and my experience can certainly help, so it is a perfect situation for everybody. At the moment, we have a young goalkeeper who is playing an excellent season and I am happy to be behind him in the pecking order.\"
