The heavily favored rowers from the United States won the Olympic gold medal Thursday in the women\'s eights. The Americans have not lost an international competition in the event since 2005 and they returned five rowers from the boat that won gold in Beijing. Canada won the silver medal and the bronze went to the Netherlands.
