Katie Taylor of Ireland won the Olympic gold medal Thursday in the women\'s lightweight boxing class. Taylor defeated silver medalist Sofya Ochigava of Russia 10-8 in the championship bout in a 10-8 decision. The winners of the bronze medals had been decided in Wednesday\'s semifinals and they went to Mavzuna Chorieva of Tajikistan and Adrian Araujo of Brazil.
