Roma goalkeeper Maarten Stekelenburg has regained consciousness after clashing with Inter defender Lucio during the sides’ goalless draw in Serie A on Saturday, reports Sky Sport Italia. The former Ajax custodian had lost consciousness for a period, as only 15 minutes into the match hie received a blow to the next in a challenge with the centre-back as they both collided while going for a 50-50 ball. However, the news channel has since reported that he has woken up and is communicating once more. Stekelenburg underwent a CAT scan at the hospital shortly after being admitted and the signs seem to be encouraging, which will delight Roma coach Luis Enrique, as he should have his first-choice goalkeeper back in contention soon. Roma lie in 15th place after their goalless draw at San Siro.
