Two games kicked off the 35th round of games in the BBVA Primera Liga on Tuesday night.
Espanyol and Celta Vigo drew 1-1 in a result which helps Espanyol move slowly towards assuring their Primera Liga future for next season while Celta also take another small step towards playing in Europe next season.
Former Liverpool striker, Iago Aspes opened the scoring for the visitors after 28 minutes, but Marco Asensio leveled matters six minutes before half time.
Betis defeated Las Palmas 1-0 thanks to a Ricky Van Wolfswinkel goal in the 84th minute of the game to climb up to 41 points and assure their place in the top-flight.
The game was a hard-fought game, but Betis were always favorites to take all three points ahead of their derby against local rivals Sevilla, after Aythami' s sending off in the 42nd minute left Las Palmas to face over half of the game with a player less on the pitch.
The majority of the matches are played on Wednesday night with the top three all in action as FC Barcelona travel to Deportivo la Coruna, while Atletico Madrid have a tough match away to Athletic Club Bilbao and Real Madrid entertain fourth placed Villarreal.
