Ahly striker Ahmed Abdel-Zaher has been offered a move to the Sudanese side Merreikh for next January. Speaking to Ahly's official website, football sector manager Hadi Khashaba confirmed that the offer had been sent and that the club's football committee would be meeting on Tuesday to discuss it. The 28-year-old's release by Ahly is seen as punishment for his recent "mixing of politics with sports." In last month's African Champions League final, Abdel-Zaher made the four-fingered sign that has become associated with the pro-Muslim Brotherhood supporters from Cairo's Rabaa Al-Adaweya Square. The gesture expressed his solidarity with the now-banned group and its ousted president, Mohamed Morsi. Security forces dispersed the Rabaa protest on 14 August, resulting in the death of hundreds of demonstrators. Source: Ahram Online
