Algeria ranked second in the overall rankings with 24 medals (4 gold, 12 silver and 8 bronze) as part of the 5th Arab Canoe-Kayak Championships, held Thursday and Friday in the province of Khemisset (70 km east of Rabat).The gold medals were snatched by Nesrine Heidra, junior girl Arab champion twice in kayak sprint and slalom, and by Liès Bellache senior Arab champion twice in para-canoe (500m, 200m).With 32 medals, including 28 gold, Tunisia ranked first in this edition which saw the participation of nine Arab countries. In addition to Algeria and Morocco (host country), the competing countries in this championship are Tunisia, Libya, Kuwait, Iraq, Sudan and Somalia.Led by Abdelmadjid Bouaoud, first vice-president of the Algerian Rowing and Canoeing Federation, the Algerian delegation was made up of 17 athletes including three girls and one referee.
