Judo-African Open

Algerian Judoka Fethi Nourine snatched Saturday evening the gold medal in the -66 kg on the first day of the Judo African Open Championships 2014 (seniors) taking place in Port-Louis (Mauritius).
Nourine dominated group C by defeating Congolese Kuku Rodriguez then Mozambican Bruno Luzia. In the semi-finals, he outclassed English Lewis Keeble.
On his part, Houd Zourdani, who was the second Algerian in the -66kg category, won group A. He beat Neddy Philoe (Seychelles) and Katz Nathan (Australian). In the semi finals, he defeated English Burns Naton.
In a 100% Algerian final, Nourine snatched the gold medal, leaving the silver to his compatriot Zourdani.
For women, Algeria won a silver medal thanks to Imen Agouar (-63kg) and a bronze by Djazia Hadda (-52kg).
A total of 144 athletes representing 26 countries are taking part in the African Open 2014, including eleven from Africa.
France, Spain, Argentina, Belgium, Ireland and Portugal are also taking part in this tournament.
