Qatargas has announced its support to Qatar Cycling Center (Qatar cyclists) in the form of a financial sponsorship of their year-round activities.
Qatargas made the announcement on the occasion of the National Sport Day, reiterating the Company’s commitment to supporting sports as part of its corporate social responsibility and in line with its strategy of supporting the development of growing sports like cycling.
This strategy is aimed at supporting the development of, and popularizing a wide range of sporting activities in the country, and attracting youngsters to engage in sports, thereby promoting a healthy lifestyle and contributing to achieving the human development goals of Qatar National Vision 2030.
Officially established in 2014, Qatar cycling center was established by a group of young Qataris who shared a passion for the sport. This eventually grew to become the one and only officially recognized cycling team in Qatar, affiliated to Qatar’s Youth and Sports Ministry.
The main objective of Qatar cycling center is to promote a healthy lifestyle through cycling which in turn helps create a healthy generation capable of contributing to the development of the nation.
Membership in Qatar cycling center is open to anyone who is interested in participating with the cycling community so as to increase awareness within the local community about cycling which helps promote a healthy and fit society.
The Cycling Centre offers a wide range of facilities and activities including an indoor training facility, cycling workshops, monthly rides on long routes, weekly rides within the city limits, regular races and participation in charity cycling events in Europe and around the world. The Center also organizes a public activity every month where people can get to know about the Center’s activities.
Several events are planned by Qatar Cyclists in the upcoming period. These include "Rowais to Doha", "Fun Ride at the Pearl" as well as mountain bike races. The dates of these will be announced soon.
