Qatar’s swimming team made impressive show of force in the 22nd GCC Water Games Championship in Bahrain to earn six medals in juniors event on Friday. Abdulrahman Khalid Al-Kuwari confidently won two gold medals in 50 m freestyle and 50 m butterfly, as his teammate Omar Hosham Yousef clinched double medals, one gold in the 200 m individual event and silver medal in the 100 m butterfly, QOC reported. Abdullah Al-Yahri won the gold medal in 100 m breaststroke as Qatar’s team consists of Walid Rafiq Daloul, Omar Hosham Omar, Abdulrahman Khalid Al-Kowari and Noah Abdulaziz Al-Kholaifi clinched gold medal in the 100 x 4 m relay. In the U-14 and 13, Yagoub Abdulaziz Al-Kholaifi won double medals, silver medal in the 200 m individual and silver medal in the 100 m butterfly. In the wake of Friday’s positive result, the swimmers raised the country’s medal tally to 11. The championship is organised by Bahrain Swimming Association (BSA) and involves swimmers from Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, United Arab Emirates, Sultanate of Oman and Qatar.
