Nayef Eqab Abdulla Jaber brought home the gold medal in the men's singles for the UAE at the seventh men's, and third women's, Arab Bowling Championship, which is being held until the 14th of September in Bahrain. This win is the first of its kind for the UAE. Shaker Ali Al-Hassan, also from the UAE team, secured bronze in the same category.
The championship was opened by Abdulrahman Sadeq Askar, Bahrain Olympic Committee General Secretary. Abdulsalam Hasan, Arab Bowling Association President, also attended the opening ceremony, which began with a minute of silence for the 50 soldiers from UAE and Bahrain who were killed in Yemen.
Mohammed Khalifa Al Qubaisi, a member of the Abu Dhabi Sports Council and President of the Emirates Bowling Federation, has congratulated the national team's manager, Ahmed Khamis Al-Ali, on a very successful start for the UAE team.
