Only seven days remain for the UAE Cycling Federation opening stage of its inaugural Dubai Eye 103.8 UAE Road Cycling Championship.
Flagging off on Friday, 26th January, the opening stage of the Daman Active Life will see UAE-based amateur cyclists compete against fellow Emirati and expatriate cyclists for the stage-one lead, racing over 55 kilometres along the Abu Dhabi Corniche, at the same time competing for valuable points in their bid to take the inaugural championship crown.
Open to all cyclists across the UAE, in different age groups from 16 years and over, both the Abu Dhabi and the Dubai stages will see a stage winner crowned, with the UAE Road Cycling Championship’s Emirati and Expatriate Champions (Men and Women) being awarded after the 2nd stage in Dubai. Both stages will be timed using Mylaps ProChip by Sports Timing Services, where points will accumulate to decide the UAE Road Cycling Championship 2018 Champions.
"We are very excited to bring the first stage of the inaugural Championship to the Abu Dhabi Corniche, and we express our sincere gratitude to the support of the Abu Dhabi Sports Council, the Abu Dhabi Cycling Club and the Abu Dhabi police who will be protecting the participating cyclists through support and managing the rolling road closures along the Corniche," said Osama Al Shafar, President of the UAE Cycling Federation.
A special time-limited ten percent off offer is currently available for cyclists who register for both, the Abu Dhabi and Dubai stages, with the cut-off for the offer being Sunday, 21st January.
