Social media trends highlight the highs and lows from across the world

When Barcelona registered their historic win against Paris Saint-Germain on Wednesday night, Twitter exploded in celebration. From overlaying the winning moments with Titanic theme music to claiming the current team to be the best ever in football, football fans made no effort to hold back their excitement. On the other side of the world, matters were more gloomy. A hijab-clad Indian girl’s performance of a Hindu devotional song during a reality TV show caused an uproar with the girl getting trolled online and offline. Social media users used their 140-character power to stand by the young singer.

#Barcelona #Barca and related Arabic trends were the most popular in the UAE and across the world
