Dutch star Arjen Robben is out for six weeks after suffering a painful knee injury in Bayern Munich's German Cup third round win at Augsburg, the club said Thursday. As well as Saturday's league trip to Werder Bremen, Robben misses Tuesday's Champions League tie at home to Manchester City, with Bayern through to the knock-out stage, as well as the Club World Cup in Morocco to be played from December 11 to 21. With the Bundesliga set to break for winter on December 22, Dutch winger Robben is not expected to play again until the end of January. "Ajren Robben has a deep cut, down to the knee joint," said Bayern team doctor Hans-Wilhelm Mueller-Wohlfahrt as Robben was stretchered off on 16 minutes after colliding with Augsburg goalkeeper Marwin Hitz in Wednesday's 2-0 victory. "A boot forced the right femur to be pushed in at the knee joint and there was huge bleeding." Robben has been in great form, scoring in his last four matches for Bayern, including their opening goal in the Augsburg win. "Of course, I am very disappointed," said the 29-year-old. "I was in good form and I was really looking forward to every game with the team. "I will come back fit and will help the team achieve the goals we have set for the season." Bayern's director of sport Matthias Sammer said the European champions will miss their star winger. "We are really sorry that Arjen was so badly injured in Augsburg," said Sammer, after Robben also scored both Bayern's goals in last Saturday's 2-0 win at home to Eintracht Braunschweig. "Arjen was in the form of his life and had decided so many games for us. "His injury is bitter news, but he will get all the help from us he needs and be available for the second part of the season."
