FIFA President Joseph S. Blatter has expressed his “shock and repulsion” at the death of Somali U-17 goalkeeper Abdulkader Dheere Hussein. The young ‘keeper was attacked and killed in the Waberi district of Mogadishu as he travelled home from a training session last week. In a letter to Alisaid Ghuled, the president of the Somali Football Federation, Blatter wrote: “I would like to express my shock and repulsion at the brutal killing of the Somali U-17 national team member Abdulkader Dheere Hussein as he made his way back from training. “The current wave of violence in Mogadishu is deeply troubling and we can only hope that it will end soon. “On behalf of the members of the international football family, I should be extremely grateful if you could extend our deepest condolences to Abdulkader’s family, friends and loved ones.” FIFA
