Arizona Cardinal's offensive right tackle Bobby Massie

Arizona Cardinals offensive right tackle Bobby Massie was suspended two games by the NFL on Saturday for violating the league's substance abuse policy.

Massie, who had been facing a three-game ban before an appeal shaved one game off the punishment, will miss the Cardinals' September 13 opener against New Orleans and a September 20 game at Chicago.

He will be able to return to Arizona's roster on September 21 to begin work ahead of a September 27 home game against San Francisco.

According to a report on the NFL's website, the ban came after Massie was arrested for being intoxicated behind the wheel at the Cardinals' training facility in late January.

Arizona is expected to start Earl Watford at right tackle and he might keep the job once Massie returns.

Massie is in the final year of his contract and is set to become an unrestricted free agent after the season.
