Patriarch of Antioch and All the East Gregory III reiterated importance of the role played by Muslims and Christians to curb the danger of extremism, saying Egypt shall never distance itself from any party in the region.
The patriarch made the remarks during a seminar organized by the Coptic Evangelical Organization for Social Services (CEOSS) under the title "Peace in Arab community: towards effective Muslim-Christian role".
He expressed happiness for meeting Abdel Fattah El Sisi, highlighting importance of Egypt's role to solve regional crises.
The Palestinian-Israeli conflict is the main reason for every crisis emerged in the region since 1948, he said, adding the peace should not be sought from outside, but it should be made by the Arabs.
He stressed that the openness to the whole world would never return with negative impacts on Islam.
