Former foreign minister Mohamed el-Orabi

Egypt's ex-foreign minister Mohamed Orabi said parliamentarians – represented in the popular and parliamentary delegation currently visiting Sudan under his leadership – will back projects and joint agreements between Egypt and Sudan to be addressed at the Egyptian parliament.

During a meeting with the General Federation of Sudanese Journalists, Orabi said the recent parliamentary elections held in Egypt were free and fair.

He added that the state did not interfere in the parliamentary elections. It just offered needed security and monitored the elections.

He said the issue of the Ethiopian dam and the Egyptian-Sudanese controversial issue of Halyeb and Shalateen were not raised during his visit to Sudan.

Orabi said Egypt is seeking to realize integration with Sudan in all domains.

He said the Egyptian media and public opinion are interested in following up his visit which he considered as "successful."

He noted that members of the delegation he is leading were carefully chosen from parties representing all Egyptian people's segments.

Orabi underlined the importance of exchanging visits between delegations of both countries to further relations between the two states and allowing Sudanese youths to join scientific academies in Egypt.
