Iraqi parliamentarian Mohamed Al Karboli underlined the security threats in Rutba area near the borders between Syria and Iraq during the current period, calling Iraq’s Prime Minister Haider Abadi to take serious measures to contract with global investment Company to secure the highway between Iraq and Jordan during the current period to push forward the Iraqi economy.
He added, during an interview with “Arabs Today”, Anbar’s desert area lacks security measures and enough protection, warning that such areas could be used to revive ISIS extremist group after its expel from Mousl. He stressed the need for reviving the highway between Iraq and Jordan during the current period to save the Iraqi economy during the current critical period witnessed in the country.
He called the Iraqi government for taking serious actions and measures to improve the live of Iraqi people, saying that it should take steps to create more job opportunities for the citizens. He stressed that need for intensifying efforts to restoring stability in the Iraqi provinces, especially in Anbar, saying that stability is the major factor to restore and revive the Iraqi economy during the current critical period witnessed in the country.
He added that the highway between Iraq and Jordan will perform a major role to increase Arab and international investments in the country during the current period, adding that it will also perform a major role to increase security and stability in the areas surrounding it. He added that it will also support the displaced people to return to their areas as soon as possible.
He stressed that the Iraqi troops managed to liberate thousands of kilometers, while the American role was to provide air coverage and logistical support. He added, “There are military bases in Al-Bakr, Balad, Ayn al-Assad, Habbaniyah and Qayara north, central and western Iraq.” He signaled that a number of American forces have been transferred to Anbar and Nineveh during the past month.
He added, “We monitor what is happening in the country. If they insisted on imposing their military existence in Iraq, we would turn to use our channels to pressure the Iraqi government not to allow the presence of American troops in the Iraqi territories during the coming period.”
He blamed the decision taken by U.S President Donald Trump to increase the American troops in the military bases, saying that such a decision is considered re-occupation of the Iraqi troops. He stressed that the Iraqi government and parliament will not allow any role for the American ground troops in the battles to liberate Anbar.
He also demanded the Iraqi prime minister and his minister of defense to launch a military operation to liberate Anbar’s areas from the grip of ISIS extremist group during the coming period to pave the borders between Iraq and both Jordan and Syria. He blamed what he described as lack of professionalism in dealing with such demands for the increasing humanitarian losses witnessed in the country.
