Former Palestinian Prime Minister and member of Fatah Central Committee, Hussam Khader asserts that returning to negotiations with Israel would be a “strategic error.” The Fatah official maintains that opening dialogue with Israel would only result further violation of Palestinian rights. Speaking to Arab Today, Khader says that linking settlements with negotiations would be political suicide. The head of Defense of Palestinian Refugee Rights Committee, based on Nablus in the West Bank warned that the situation in Palestine is dangerous and close to collapsing. Khader accuses Israel of leading Palestinians to a war, because of their refusal to seize fire. Regarding the Palestinian internal issues, Khader remains pessimistic. He emphasises that the failure to reach a national consensus and reconciliation between the rival Hamas and Fatah, is further deteriorating the Palestinian cause. Discussing the establishment of the West Bank government, Khader says that its formation came as a result of pressure put on the Fatah leadership to satisfy some of the movement’s members. He adds that the new government will not do anything to move forward the Palestinian agenda.
