Casablanca - Fatima Al Zahraa Dorat
Deputy General Secretary of Moroccan Democratic Confederation of Labor Abdelkader Zayer expressed his organization’s readiness to participate in Labor Day, saying that they prepared for this day for a long time.
He stressed that the Moroccan working class is keen to mark the memory of Labor Day as the title of struggle, dignity and freedom, calling the various unions, centers and institutions to participate in the march of Labor Day and to carry slogans condemning the current situation in the country.
He added, in a statement to “Arabs Today”, the Labor Day is a major event in which the Moroccan workers should raise their demands to the government to increase their salaries, to open the issue of unions’ freedoms and to reform of the pension system.
He blamed the government for lack of resources directed to workers and weakness of the governmental offer to the social activists, saying that the Labor Day is an occasion for protests not celebrations.
