Former premier Fouad siniora

Former Lebanese premier Fouad Siniora asserted that nomination of MP Suleiman Frangieh for the Lebanese presidency is still standing but further contacts and exchange of ideas are needed at the current phase.

In statements to MENA, Siniora said the proposal has not been turned out to an initiative but there are efforts to settle the problem of the presidential vacuum which has negatively affected all public and constitutional foundations in Lebanon along with unstable economic and living conditions.

He made it clear contacts are still underway with Hezbollah and the March 8 Alliance as regards Frangieh's nomination.

Head of the Lebanese Future Current Saad Hariri has unofficially made the proposal of Frangieh's nomination for presidency despite the fact that Frangieh is a leading figure in March 8 Alliance which opposes the long-standing Lebanese Future Current.

Change and Reform bloc chief MP Michel Aoun has announced that it is up to the March 8 coalition to decide whether or not to nominate Marada Movement leader MP Suleiman Franjieh for the presidency.

Aoun is viewed by his bloc as the one who deserves more the post of the presidency given the fact that the bloc is the biggest Christian one at the Lebanese parliament.
