The job of choosing Sepp Blatter's successor as FIFA president gets underway

Suspended Kuwait and Indonesia were officially ruled out of Friday's vote for the new FIFA president, leaving 207 of the 209 federations with the job of picking Sepp Blatter's successor.

Their absence  was confirmed by Markus Kattner, acting general secretary of football's scandal-tainted world body, at FIFA's Congress in Zurich.

The news could be a blow to leading candidate Sheikh Salman bin Ebrahim al Khalifa, head of the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) which includes the two missing nations.
