The National Hockey League said Wednesday that it will celebrate its centennial year with a slate of four regular-season outdoor games including a New Year's Day showcase in Toronto.

The Toronto Maple Leafs host the Detroit Red Wings at BMO Field in the NHL Centennial Classic next January 1.

A day later, the St. Louis Blues will host the Chicago Blackhawks at Busch Stadium in the Winter Classic.

On February 18, the Pittsburgh Penguins will host the Philadelphia Flyers in a Stadium Series game at Heinz Field in Pittsburgh.

"We know the first outdoor meeting of these clubs will add to the long list of great Flyers-Penguins memories as they each celebrate 50 years in the NHL," league commissioner Gary Bettman said.

The three games announced on Wednesday are in addition to the previously announced Heritage Classic in which the Winnipeg Jets will host the Edmonton Oilers at Investors Group Field on October 23.
