The Medical Services have announced that the player ended the game on Saturday against RCD Espanyol feeling pain in his right knee. “Following complementary tests, we have decided to subject the player to arthroscopy next Saturday May 12” it was said. The surgery will be directed by Doctor Ramon Cugat. The Catalan is expected to need about six weeks to recover. 44 matches this season After missing almost all of the second half of the 2010/11 season, on June 1 last year the Barça captain underwent arthroscopy on his left knee in order to remove loose cartilage from his femoral trochlea. He returned on September 13 for the Champions League game with AC Milan. Since then, Puyol has practically been an ever-present in Pep Guardiola’s plans. In the 2011/12 season, the defender has appeared in 44 matches, 26 in La Liga, 9 in the Champions League, 7 in the Copa del Rey and 2 in the Clubs World Cup. He has scored 5 goals.
