The Giro d’Italia will start in Naples next year with riders setting off from the coastal city for the first time in 50 years. Naples Mayor Luigi De Magistris says “it’s a very important event,” adding that the city’s seafront will be “pedestrianized for the occasion.” The race started in Naples in 1963 while the last time a stage finished in Naples was 1996. The Giro will be contested next year for the 96th time.
