Jason Day has regained the world number one spot following his win in the World Match Play tournament in Texas on Sunday.
The 28-year-old Australian defeated Louis Oosthuizen 5 and 4 in the final in Austin to record superb back-to-back wins, having triumphed in the Arnold Palmer Invitational the previous week.
He takes over at the top from Jordan Spieth, who lost in the round of 16 in the Match Play. The 22-year-old American had been at the top since winning the Tour Championship at the end of September and moving ahead of Day.
"I'm very, very thrilled. It's been a memorable week this week not only to win the Dell Match Play Championship but also to get back to number one in the world," Day said
Rory McIlroy, who lost in the semi-finals to Day in Austin stays at number three with the first of the year's four majors, the Masters, fast approaching in two weeks time.
Spieth will be the defending champion at Augusta National, Day will be looking for back-to-back major wins and McIlroy will be out to complete a career Grand Slam.
