Alex Killorn of the Tampa Bay Lightning celebrates his goal against the Detroit Red Wings

Alex Killorn scored with less than two minutes left as the Tampa Bay Lightning beat the Detroit Red Wings 1-0 to reach the second round of the NHL playoffs.

Goaltender Ben Bishop made 34 saves for the shutout as Tampa Bay, which won the best-of-seven series 4-1, will play the winner of the first-round series between the New York Islanders and Florida Panthers.

That series is tied 2-2.

It may have been the final Red Wings game for veteran center Pavel Datsyuk as he plans to return to Russia to consider his future.

Killorn scored after Red Wings goalie Petr Mrazek went behind the net to clear a puck, but the Lightning stole it from him and pounced on the opportunity. Ryan Callahan fed a pass to Killorn, who flicked in the game-winner with 1:43 left in the third period.

Tampa Bay's Bishop recorded his first shutout of the playoffs.
