Detroit Pistons forward Austin Daye has joined the Russian team Khimki on a two-month contract, the Russian side told RIA Novosti on Friday. Khimki has qualifying games ahead to make the Euroleague regular season, and needed to bolster its roster after an injury to experienced forward Matt Nielsen. Daye announced on Twitter that he had a clause allowing him to return to the NBA if the lockout is resolved. Daye, 23, featured in 72 games last season for the Pistons, averaging 7.5 points and 3.8 rebounds. The Pistons took him as the 15th overall pick in the 2009 draft. Khimki’s core roster features another lockout player in the Denver Nuggets’ Timofey Mozgov, and the former Portland Trail Blazers and Sacramento Kings guard Sergei Monya.
