Ricky Ponting\'s limited-overs international career could be over after selectors dropped the dual World Cup-winning captain from Australia\'s squad for this week\'s tri-series matches against India and Sri Lanka. Ponting scored 18 runs at an average of 3.6 in five innings in the series - the longest sequence of single-digit scores in his 375-game ODI career. Only hours before selectors met on Monday and decided to drop Ponting due to his poor recent form, the 37-year-old ex-captain told a news conference following Australia\'s 110-run win over India at Brisbane that he had no intention of retiring and wanted to bat his way back into form. Ponting took 13 balls to get off the mark on Sunday and was out for a scratchy seven runs from 26 balls. He has always been determined to go out on his own terms - having proven his worth in test matches with a return to form in the 4-0 sweep of India this season despite criticism of his continued selection.
