Partner of CIES since 2006, the Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University (NMMU) in Port Elizabeth (South Africa) has officially launched the 6th edition of the NMMU/FIFA/CIES Sports Management Programme. The course will start on 1 October 2012. The Programme enjoys an excellent reputation in South Africa, in particular thanks to its close links with many sports entities, local governments and municipalities. NMMU/FIFA/CIES Programme alumni also focus on the strong points of the Programme. Godwin Nwafor, alumnus of the 5th edition, comments: “Personally, I have been able to build a wide network of people who share similar sporting ideas to me. Professionally, I have been well equipped with the technical know-how on how to effectively manage sporting activities.” For his part, Marthinus Bosse, Vice-President of the South African Wrestling Federation added: "The Programme met and even exceeded my expectations. There is no doubt that I have become a better manager thanks to my newly acquired knowledge... The Programme opens new horizons for students and allows them to change the mindset in which they work. The advantages are huge in terms of management of a federation or of a club". The NMMU/FIFA/CIES Programme allows people from various professional and sporting backgrounds to familiarise themselves with modern management tools in key areas such as sport marketing, sponsorship, law, management, communication, finances and event management. Adapted to regional and national requirements, it also offers the opportunity to attend lectures given by international experts invited by FIFA and the CIES. The International Network Programme is currently organised in 12 countries, namely: Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Costa Rica, Egypt, Palestine, Senegal, South Africa, Spain, Trinidad and Tobago, Turkey and Venezuela.
