Tokyo will use Japan’s most celebrated flower — the cherry blossom — in its bid to host the 2020 Summer Olympics. Tokyo’s 2020 bid committee unveiled its bid logo on Wednesday, becoming the first of the six applicant cities to do so. The logo is a wreath of cherry blossoms incorporating the Olympic colors of red, blue, yellow and green plus purple, which features prominently in Japanese cultural icons. Organizers said the wreath signified eternity, happiness and a continuous unbroken cycle, while also symbolizing Japan’s recovery from the March 11 earthquake and tsunami.
