Young Talents Cricket Academy (YTCA) ‘C’ put up a tremendous team performance to emerge U-14 champions in the Nissan Gulf Cup T20 cricket tournament organised by YTCA at the Skyline College ground in Sharjah on Friday. YTCA ‘C’, who put up stunning performances in the course of the tournament, finally justified their form when they defeated Desert Cub by three wickets in a pulsating final. Excellent three-wicket spells from Rahul Bhatia (3 for 12) and Mehul Dhakan (3 for 13) saw YTCA restrict Desert Cubs to 74 all out in 18 overs. For Desert Cubs, Nelukshan was the lone batsman to impress with 25 runs while Ranul with 12 was the next highest scorer. In reply, YTCA also did suffer some minor hiccups before trotting home by scoring 75 runs for the loss of seven wickets and three overs to spare. Mehdi Raza’s knock of 23 runs was crucial while Sreenivas Sarma played a supportive knock of 15 runs. Desert Cubs’ Ramal (3 for 5) was the most impressive bowler, but his fine efforts went in vain as there was not much runs to defend. Lahiru (2 for18) was the other bowler to impress.
