The Interior Ministry has arrested 12 elements of Tala'a Hasm terrorist group in the city of Fayyoum.
A statement issued by the Interior Ministry on Tuesday, indicated that the 12 suspects, who are affiliated with the terrorist Muslim Brotherhood group, were arrested before committing hostile operations.
The ministry received reports to the effect that leaders of the terrorist group have recently issued directives to elements in Fayyoum governorate to carry out acts of violence and sabotage with a view to shaking the stability of the governorate.
The 12 suspects were arrested in possession of 13 firearms along with two bombs that were defused, according to the statement.
The arrested suspects admitted the charges of joining a terrorist group and receiving advanced military training.
They also admitted that they received training on how to manufacture bombs for targeting police stations and prisons along with assassinating policemen and public figures.
All legal measures were taken against them and they were referred to prosecution.
