The Interior Ministry

The Interior Ministry said Saturday 14 militants of Hasm Movement (an armed group affiliated with the terrorist Muslim Brotherhood) were arrested before carrying out plots to hit police headquarters.

Information collected by the Homeland Security Service affirmed that members of the terrorist movement in Monufia governorate were tasked to resume armed action, training, preparation and equipping for new terrorist attacks, the ministry added in a statement.

A Hasm leader, identified as Ahmed Samy Abdel Hameed Abdel Aal, and 13 other militants were arrested, the statement said.

Amounts of firearms and explosive materials were seized, it added.

On February 11, an Egyptian court banned "Hasm Movement" for claiming responsibility for deadly attacks and assassination attempts of public figures.
