Three buildings close to a collapsed building in Giza's Faysal district were evacuated over detected cracks.

In statements to MENA, Giza Deputy Governor Alaa Haras said the four-story building collapsed over its shabby condition, groundwater in the area and nearby digging operations.

Digging for constructing a new nearby building without taking into consideration geometrical calculations was the main reason behind the building collapse, he said.

Officials of the engineering office in charge of establishing the new building were referred to the prosecution.
