Three policemen, including an officer, were injured Friday when an explosive charge targeted their vehicle in western Arish, security sources said. 

The sources said that unknown people planted the explosive device on Al Qantara-Arish highway.

The small bomb went off as the police vehicle passed to comb the area, the sources said. 

The injured policemen were rushed to hospital for treatment.

An investigation into the assault will be launched.
