The Ministry of Interior said that it arrested a fugitive member of the Al Gamaa al Islamiya (Islamic group) who was sentenced in absentia to death over Istiqamah Mosque incidents and riot.
Criminal investigations revealed that the 40-year-old fugitive was hiding in a rented flat in the 6th of October city, a Security Media Center official said in a statement.
The convicted possessed four mobile phones and a computer, the media center added. (MENA)
In June 2014, Giza Criminal Court sentenced to death 14 defendants belonging to the terrorist Muslim Brotherhood (MB) and al Gamaa al Islamiya groups and the referral of defendants to the Grand Mufti for his advisory opinion on the imposition of the death penalty.
They are accused of inciting violence, terrorism as well as rioting and killing citizens in the incidents of el-Istiqamah Mosque in Giza following the June 30 Revolution which led to the ouster of Islamist president Mohamad Morsi.
