Twenty seven terrorists were killed Tuesday while 154 others arrested during an extensive operation in North Sinai, army said in a statement.

Units of the police and army continued the Operation "Right of the Martyr", launched on Monday, to eliminate terrorist elements in Rafah, Sheikh Zuweid and Arish in North Sinai, the statement said.

Also, 10 vehicles and 35 motorbikes were destroyed during the ground operation under cover from the air forces, the statement added.

Eight plateless-vehicles were seized, six explosive devices defused, and a number of hideouts were destroyed, the army said.

The army blew up about 1.5 tons of ammonium nitrate, a cache of C4 explosives during the crackdown, the statement added.

The army announced on television in the early hours Tuesday morning that it launched the extensive operation dubbed 'the Right of the Martyr' on Monday in the volatile North Sinai region to root out terror insurgents, reporting that the army killed 29 terrorists.
