Appellate Court of Suez

The Appellate Court of Suez rejected on Sunday an appeal lodged by Resat Ozturk, a Turkish national who has received a three-year prison sentence for alleged links with the banned Muslim Brotherhood group.
Ozturk, 46, was given the prison sentence by the Misdemeanor Court of Suez in last March for attempting to obtain sensitive information that could harm the Egyptian national security and financing the activities of the Muslim Brotherhood in eastern Suez Governorate, Egypt's MENA news agency reported.
He denied the charges, saying he had only come to know Brotherhood members through social-networking websites.
The man who works in textiles was arrested in August, 2013, by the Egyptian National Security Corps in the wake of the ouster of president Mohammad Morsi.
