Egypt's President Abdel-Fatah El-Sisi called for an emergency security meeting to follow up on an attack by a number of gunmen on vehicles carrying Coptic Christians travelling to Saint Samuel Monastery in Upper Egypt's governorate of El-Minya on Friday, which killed and injured dozens.
In a statement, the presidency said El-Sisi is following up closely on the security situation in the country, and that he instructed authorities to take all necessary measures to attend to the injured and arrest the assailants.
Cairo imposed a nationwide three-month state of emergency after the Palm Sunday Suicide Bombings, which killed and injured dozens, with the option to extend for another three months dependent on a parliament vote
