Magdy Abdel Ghaffar

The police are capable of confronting terrorism and there should be a balance between security and human rights, Interior Minister Magdy Abdel Ghaffar said.

He was meeting Thursday with senior security leaderships at the end of the second round of a conference for security directors and general departments.

At the beginning of the meeting, Abdel Ghaffar extended thanks to policemen for their efforts they exerted in protecting the country's security and stability.

This phase requires exerting efforts and maintaining coordination among all sides, he added.

The wise leadership is considered a main demand during this phase in order to confront the security incidents and controlling them, he said.

The minister, meanwhile, underlined the need of providing continued training for leaderships in order to raise their efficiency and prepare leaderships who are capable of taking decisions.

The security apparatus is well aware of the challenges besetting the nation, he said, adding that it is important to exert strenuous efforts to confront these threats.

The minister also highlighted the importance of policemen self-discipline while on duty.

The Interior Ministry will not accept violations committed against the citizens, he made it clear.

Participants in the meeting, for their part, hailed efforts exerted by the interior minister and vowed to exert utmost efforts for the sake of homeland.
